Biography Coleen Murtagh Paratore

I graduated with a major in English from The College of Saint Rose in Albany and, after two internships in advertising and public relations, decided to pursue a career in communications. My journey led me to working in the field during the day and pursuing a master’s in English at Trinity College at night. After moving back to Albany, I took on a job as a publicist for Russell Sage College and eventually became the Director of Communications for the Sage Colleges. Amidst these career moves, I got married and started a family, eventually founding Books Worth Writing to develop and publish The Remembering Book.

After taking a few years off to care for my three young sons, I returned to my love of writing and literature, spending time with my children and nurturing my writer’s voice. Although I never set out to write children’s books, everything in my life seemed to lead me in that direction. Despite facing many rejections, I persisted in my writing and eventually achieved my dream of becoming a published children’s author.

I learned that achieving greatness requires enthusiasm, hard work, revision, and a belief in oneself. This is the path that led me to where I am today as a successful writer and educator.
