Biography Kyle Mills

I was raised in Oregon and moved around quite a bit, living in D.C., Virginia, Maryland, London, and Wyoming. My father was an FBI agent, so I was a bureau kid, similar to an army brat. This lifestyle allowed me to absorb a lot of knowledge about the FBI, CIA, and Special Forces. As a young boy, I was fascinated with the idea of chasing criminals. After college, I initially pursued a corporate job but found myself drawn to unconventional, artistic people and eventually got into rock climbing. Moving to Wyoming was a great decision, as I met amazing people who inspired me to pursue writing. Despite majoring in finance and avoiding English courses, I eventually wrote and published my first novel, Rising Phoenix, which has allowed me to make a living as a writer. My life in Wyoming hasn’t changed much, as I’ve replaced climbing with backcountry skiing and mountain bike racing and still live in Wyoming.
